This page will list local (to Red Deer and area) ski trail conditions as I receive them from the trail operators or skiers. If the operators/ groomers of area trails have a web link, email address or other contact info I will include that in the post.

Great Chief Park to Heritage Ranch . .The Great Chief Park to Heritage Ranch classical trails are still skiable. The tracks are well formed and a skiff of cold snow lining about 75-80% of the tracks. The rest are a bit icy and there has been a great deal of spruce needle drop under the trees that preclude the use of klister. It is recommended to use a extra blue or special purple wax. Great Chief Park . .The loops around the ball diamonds at Great Chief Park have been renovated and are in excellent condition for the most part. It is a good place to practice and/or ski the loops for fitness. River Bend . .River Bend has not fared as well. There is a great set of 20 teaching tracks under the lights near the club house but the remainder of the trails are only suitable for ski skating and the upper trails are treacherous and missing snow in places. They are not skiable at this time. Remarks: We may be one of the few places outside the mountains that you can still ski with all this ridiculous weather we have been having. Pray for snow. |
Ski trails at Pigeon Lake Provincial Park have been groomed and trackset and are ready to go for the Christmas weekend. Rundle’s trails will be groomed and set this evening.
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Years. See you on the trails!
Best Regards….. Mike Dec 23 2011
