Minutes of the General Meeting
REPORTS:
Past President’s Report: Absent.
V.P.’s Report:
Kelly reported that the Loppet (the first in the past 3 years) went really well. There were 110 people who preregistered with an additional 10-12 people registering the morning of the loppet. There was a mild panic when it rained on Friday night but Jeff Stokoe was out at 3 a.m. tracksetting. Riverbend did a good job looking after the chilli and buns and there are a few cookies left over. All the bills aren’t in yet but a small profit is expected. Kelly had a great team and 40 volunteers working along with her to make the loppet a success.
Treasurer’s Report: Dick was absent but left the following figures with Vance. As of Jan. 31, (all figures are approximate) the General fund had $4600, the Loppet fund had $1000, the Biathlon fund $1006, the Jr. Jackrabbit fund $1400 and the Red Deer Nordic fund $4880 for a total of $13000. The ski lessons earned around $1800 and the loppet brought in $2365 with expenses still to be paid,
Mountain Tour Chairman’s Report: There is approximately $7000 in the Mountain Tour Account. Avalanche probe poles have been received. It is now club policy that everyone must carry a set of probe poles similar to the policy on shovels and beacons when participating on mountain tours. Probes will be rented out at $1/day. Vance pointed out key statistics on the speed of finding avalanche victims versus the goal of 15 minutes. People with probes found the victims within 9 minutes versus 25 minutes for those without probe poles, which is a big difference if you want to find your victims while they are still alive. The survival rate at 15 minutes is only 50%.
Social Director: Thanks to the bringers of snacks for tonight’s meeting.
Day Trip Chairman:
