1. REPORTS:
President:
Don introduced himself, welcomed all members and outlined the agenda for tonights meeting.

Treasurer:
Claude presented his Treasurers report and reported that we have $303.00 in the general account; $1695.00 - Loppitt fund, $175.00 Tour Leaders fund and $2000.00 GIC.
Claude announced that he would be collecting membership fees at the back and noted that there was no membership fee increase this year. Membership forms will be available in the next newsletter and on our website.
Vice President:
Mike reported that courses and lessons were his responsibility. He asked members to sign up at the back for courses of interest. Courses that will be offered this year include Telemarking (Beginner and Intermediate); GPS, Map and Compass, Tour Leader 1, Emergency Snow Shelter and Transceivers (Basic and Intermediate). Members were encouraged to let Mike know if there were other courses members would like to have offered.
Social Committee:
Brian announced that sign up sheets would be circulated during the meeting for meeting snacks as well as food for the Trail Clearing party. He reported that the social committee is responsible for the social component of the meetings and also helps organize food for the Loppitt.
Newsletter:
Terry requested members send in ski photos and articles for the newsletter newsletter deadline is the 15th of each month.. When submitting pictures, members were requested to scan in the actual photograph or submit a digital formation with a resolution of 300 gpi or higher.
Webmaster:
Dick reported that the web pages were running ok for right now.
Day Tour/Lessons:
John reported that day tours will be held on Sundays and asked for volunteers to lead local day tours. Day tours will be scheduled on local trails starting in November. If there is no snow, the trail will be hiked to help members become familiar with local trails. Day tours will be listed in the newsletter. .
Ski lessons will be run in January at River Bend and will be advertised in the City Winter Recreation guide. Don and Mike have volunteered to teach these lessons. A third instructor may be needed (depending on numbers).
Publicity:

Mountain Tour Chair:
Jane reported that the mountain tour schedule was published in the October newsletter. The first trip will run the November long weekend (Remembrance Day Dash!). Trips to Ramparts Hostel and Ribbon creek were also highlighted. Jane reported that prices for mountain tours have increased due to costs associated with the SAT phone.
BUSINESS:
Update on Bob Johnstone Trail naming proposal:
Members were informed that the club has submitted a proposal to rename the upper trails at River Bend in honor of Bob however the Trailnet organization has also submitted a proposal to rename a portion of the trial that runs in front of Bobs home. The city is determining policy and will then review the proposals.
River Bend Update:
Pat will take over attend meetings with River Bend from Don.. Any concerns or bouquets should be communicated to Pat for presentation at these meetings.
Heritage Ranch Snowmobile
Don reported that the new snowmobile is now in our hands and will be used for tracksettting this year.
Club Satellite Cell Phone
Mike reported that the club acquired a SAT phone this summer and that it will be taken on all backcountry mountain tours. Members will be able to buy time from on top of the mountain to phone family or club members that were foolish enough not to come on the tour. Off season rental of the SAT phone by members will also be available.
Youth Group Affiliation:
Don reported that our club is semi connected with the Red Deer Jack Rabbits and a new post jackrabbit club that has been formed this summer for 11-18 year olds.
Guest Speakers:
Club members were encouraged to let executive members know of any ideas for guest speakers or entertainment for club meetings.
Tour Leaders Certification:
Brian spoke about Tour leader qualifications (Level 1,2 and 3), the tour leader course and course prerequisites. Anyone with any questions is encouraged to contact Brian.
Don adjourned the meeting and encouraged members to spend time munching on goodies, catching up with club members and signing up for mountain tours/courses.
