General Meeting

Welcome & Presidents Report: Review activities, see executive if you have any questions.

Reports:
            Treasurer’s report: Claude announced the club had a balance of $1678.00 in the general account at the end of October less $500.00 to pay for cost of shelter for the ski mobile for the trail maintenance. Claude also announced that we have received the cheque from DOW for $500.00 to cover part of the cost of the satellite phone.
            V.P report. Mike explained club procedure for trips & had sign up sheets prepared for upcoming courses. Courses will run if enough interest is shown, dates to be determined. For further information on any of these courses please contact Mike Spencer.
            Newsletter Editor: Terry mentioned he had been having trouble with his computer so wasn’t able to open some attachments he received & that he might be missing info due to the problem but everything is up & running now. When forwarding pictures please send in jpeg format.Terry warned that the deadline for submissions was in the middle of the month, no later than third week of month. Would like to encourage anyone if they have an interesting story, photos from trips or cartoons, tips on skiing or anything else they think other members would be interested in to email him or contact him for further info. Steve dropped of a sheet on skiing etiquette for the newsletter.
            Social Committee: Steve & Sandy present – They requested information as to their responsibilities at the loppet. Carol & Brian will fill them in.
            Day Trip Chairman: John – No day trips to announce at this time. Anyone interested in leading a day trip, please contact John. Registration for Ski Lessons are available through The City of Red Deer or online at Look N Book.
            Web Master: Dick – nothing to report.
Mountain Tour Chairman: Steve Davies - Absent –next tour Dec. 14 & 15th – Rampart Hostel – Nigel Pass – Steve Irwin. March 1 & 2/08 Lake Ohara – See Steve Irwin. Steve has also booked Elizabeth Parker Hut for Dec. 5 & 6/08 contact Steve if interested. Egypt Lake trip went well. Great Xmas supper & lots of great skiing.

Old Business

Approval of Mountain tour schedule at last club executive meeting.
Application for funding for the satellite phone from Dow Chemical was submitted. We have received $500.00.
Naming of trail in memory of Bob Johnstone
Temporary Signage on City Ski Trails
Ski Lessons- January 14, 16, 21 & 23 – with possible make up day Jan. 28/08 at Riverbend (6:30-8pm) – can register through City of Red Deer Recreation Dept or Look N Book.
T-Shirts- Barb needs money by the end of next meeting at the latest.

New Business
1.      Ski Conditions – Heritage to Bower ready to ski, Mark has been working on trails & Frank was out skiing, trails were good. There will be a work party at 9a.m. on Wednesday Dec. 12/07 to put snow on trails. Sylvan Lake surface is good for skate skiing. Rocky Mtn. Golf Course is ready for skiing.
2.      New mountain tour on March 8-9/08 – Tour leader Steve Irwin
3.      Loppett – Feb. 2/08, (8:30-3pm) Don & Dick looking after the arrangements. Need volunteers to help with food & work other areas. Sign up sheet was passed around.

Adjourned for snacks and an invitation to stay for presentation on Ski conditioning by Judy Ziemmer. Her presentation will focus on issues related to our activities & overall health.
